Mary E. VanSchuyver

Mary Ella VanSchuyver, age 92, passed away, peacefully in her home, Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

She was born July 21, 1934, to William Leon Atchley and Zelma Blaine (Neal) Atchley.

On October 5th, 1951 she married the love of her life, James Allen VanSchuyver, with whom they shared seven decades of devoted marriage and built a loving home in Wanette, OK, where she loved and cared for her family as a devoted homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Zelma Atchley , her sisters, Leonda Scott and Lois Gray and her son Royce VanSchuyver.

Mary is survived by her husband of 74 years, James Allen VanSchuyver, her daughter Debra D. O'Neal and husband Jackie. Two grandchildren Cheri Tyler, and husband Randy. Jason O'Neal and wife Suzanne. Six great grandchildren, Conner Sparks, Garrett O'Neal and wife Erika, Morgan O'Neal and fiancé Charles McCullough, Jacob Tyler, Haddon Tyler and fiancé Lindsey Zertuche and Isaiah Tyler. Five great - great grandchildren, Jackson, Eleanor, Jude, Finnley and Sprigin.

Her greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandma, great grandma and great-great grandma!

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the funeral home from 4-6pm Wednesday, September 23, 2026 and from 8am-1pm on Thursday, September 24, 2026. A funeral ceremony to celebrate Mary's life will be held at 2PM Thursday, September 24, 2026 in the Chapel at Riley-Walker Funeral Service & Crematory in Shawnee, Oklahoma with Pastor Randy Tyler officiating. Following the ceremony, Mary will be laid to rest next to her parents at Wanette Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jackie O'Neal, Jason O'Neal, Garrett O'Neal, Jacob Tyler, Haddon Tyler, Isaiah Tyler and John VanSchuyver.
