Margaret Helen Boyd

Margaret Reed, 90, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on October 2, 2026.

Margaret was born on February 12, 1936 to Joseph “Joe” & Hilda Lauderdale Smyers in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She graduated from Maysville High school and attended for one year at East Central in Ada, Oklahoma.

Margaret was proud of being a medical transcriptionist for the Shawnee Medical Center Hospital for 17 years. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Joe Reed. Together they raised two sons, Mike and Jody, and built a beautiful life grounded in devotion to family and faith. They were married for 54 years before her husband’s passing.

Above all, Margaret was known for her unselfish nature and her heart for others-people often remarked that she always put others firsts. Her proudest accomplishments were being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church for many years. In her free time, she loved working in her yard, playing games, and most of all, spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Reed; her parents, Joe & Hilda Smyers; her parent-in-laws, David & Mary Reed; her sisters, Christina Smyers Matthews, Reba Smyers Hicks, Patricia Smyers Walker, and Beverly Smyers Floyd; her nephew, Andy Glen Floyd; and her nieces, Erika Floyd and Angie Floyd.

She is survived by her sons, Mike Reed and wife Tracy, Jody Reed; her cherished grandchildren, Sydney Stevenson and husband Cody, Colby Reed, Kylee Reed, Marley Reed and fiancé Jason Herndon, Dawson Reed, and Mallory Reed; and her great-granddaughter, Scarlett Stevenson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
