Kenneth Cheever, 77, passed away Friday, August 21, 2026, in his home in Shawnee, OK, after battling a lengthy illness.
He was born on January 16, 1949, in Russell, Kansas to Ray Cheever and Louise Yates Cheever (Ragsdale).
He graduated from Bristow High School in 1967. Later that year, Ken enlisted in the United States Navy and served our country in the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged in 1971.
Ken eventually settled in Tecumseh and married Annette on July 7, 1979. They resided in the Tecumseh and Shawnee area and were married until her passing in 2011. Ken worked for Tinker Air Force Base until he retired in 2002.
Ken loved to garden, rebuild cars, fish, hunt, camp, watch sports, and travel. He was an avid OU Sooners fan. He was a great cook and loved spending time cooking on the grill.
He is survived by four children: daughter Alycia Mitchell of Yale, OK, son Kenny Cheever of Stillwater, OK, daughter Angi Hodges and husband Bill of Shawnee, OK, and son David Holland and wife Connie of Shawnee, OK. He also has thirteen grandchildren: Shai Ansell and husband Cooper of Virginia, Cole Hodges of Stillwater, OK, Hope Hodges of Ada, OK, Trevor Holland of Shawnee, OK, Maddie Awtry and husband Corey of Tuttle, OK, Traye Holland of Albuquerque, NM, Trisha Rich and Erica Rich of Yale, OK, Tiara Rich of Glencoe, OK, Kenton Mitchell and wife Jamie of Cushing, OK, Cannon Cheever and Jaeda Cheever of Ponca City, OK, and Kinley Cheever of Perry, OK. In addition, he has eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Cheever, sister Connie Nelson, father Ray Cheever, mother Louise Ragsdale, and stepfather Charles Ragsdale.
Memorial services will be Saturday, August 29 at 11:00AM, at Trinity Baptist Church in Shawnee, OK, with Pastor David Holland presiding. Riley-Walker Funeral Home is handling funeral services.
