John M. Robinson, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the city where he was born on June 21, 1955.
John was a proud member of the varsity football team at Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City before his graduation in 1974. He went on to attend Bethany Nazarene Junior College. Later, he trained as a printing apprentice, as well as a machinist. John worked as a printer for Southwestern Stationery and Bank Supply for 20 years before going on to work as a machinist for George Fischer Central Plastics for an additional 18 years until his retirement.
John met Susan through a mutual friend in 1986. John and Susan married on June 27, 1987, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma. John was a member of St. John Lutheran Church for 39 years at the time of his passing. On September 14, 1991, John and Susan welcomed their son, Eric, into this world. John was fiercely dedicated to his family and worked hard to provide them with a loving, caring, and comfortable life.
John was known to friends and loved ones as a loyal OU football fan and a lover of all things aviation. In his free time, he enjoyed going to air shows, aviation museums, and watching documentaries about aircraft. His favorite period in aviation history was World War II. Top Gun was John’s favorite movie of all time and he saw it multiple times over forty years. He also enjoyed attending local car shows and admiring the beautifully restored classic cars.
John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan Robinson, son, Eric Robinson, sister, Jane Lampton, and brother-in-law, Ken Lampton, brother, Lawrence Robinson, and sister-in-law, Deb Robinson, nephews, Michael McAlvain, Brian Robinson, Kelly McAlvain, and Richard Robinson, plus, an additional four brothers-in-law and three sisters- in-law from Susan’s side of the family, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; All of whom will miss his welcoming smile and sense of humor.
John was preceded in death by his father, William Robinson Sr., his mother, Catherine Robinson, his brother William Robinson Jr., and his sisters, Ann McAlvain and Marilyn Conn.
A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 3610 N Union Ave, Shawnee, OK 74804. Family and friends are welcome to come together in remembrance and thanksgiving for John’s life and the joy he brought to so many. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
