Jeanette Lyn Henderson-Burrows

Jeanette Lyn Henderson-Burrows, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, in Oklahoma City at the age of 58. She was born on May 10, 1968, in Valparaiso, Indiana to Richard Lynn and Dee Anne Henderson.

Jeanette will be remembered as a bright and loving presence, the kind of person who brought warmth wherever she went. She was sunshine in the room, easy to spot in a crowd in her bright colors, and just as easy to remember for the love she showed to everyone around her. She always made sure to smile, and that simple gift became one of the many ways she made people feel welcome, seen, and cared for.

She attended Chesterton High School and later served her country in the United States Air Force from 1986 to 1990. Being a veteran was one of her proudest accomplishments, and she carried on that family tradition with honor. She also took deep pride in raising her children. Jeanette worked as a secretary at First Church of the Nazarene, where her caring spirit and servant’s heart were a blessing to many. Whether at home or at church, she loved making people happy.

Jeanette had so much love to give, and she opened her heart wide as a mother to many. She was the kind of person who welcomed others in and made room for them at her table and in her life. She loved any excuse to cook for people, even jokingly accepting that a little cat fur might occasionally find its way in from her beloved herd of cats. She found joy in simple and happy things: M&M’s, Legos, Crocs, and road trips, especially when she could share them with any of the kids, including those who were not her own but became hers in all the ways that mattered. She loved decorating for Christmas, serving the church, cheering on the Chicago Bears, and being surrounded by her crew for game nights. More than anything, she tried to show everyone love. She truly was a mom to everyone.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Henderson; her mother, Dee Henderson; her sister, Michele D. Wood; and her grandmother, Shirley Ann Crawford.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Burrows Jr.; daughter, Nichole Scarlett and husband, Jim; son, Kenneth Matthew Matthews; son, Lloyd Richard Aurion; bonus daughter, Jessica Impson; bonus son, Roger Riojas; bonus son, Neil Weathers; stepdaughter, Destinee Burrows; grandchildren, Kirsten Mae Scarlett, Daxxton Grae Matthews, and Aspen Boggess; and stepmother, Darlene Henderson.
