Georgia Ann Byrd was born in Joliet, Illinois, on February 23, 1934. She passed away on August 24, 2026.
In 1953, Georgia married the love of her life, John Byrd. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage and raised four daughters. The family lived in Illinois until 1968, when they moved to Oklahoma. They first lived in Midwest City before eventually settling in Shawnee. Georgia lost her beloved husband, John, in 2009.
In 2020, Georgia moved to Bentley, Oklahoma, to live with her daughter.
Georgia loved to read books and especially enjoyed watching sports. She was an avid fan of baseball, OU softball, and football. She could talk about sports all day and knew the players on her favorite teams. She also enjoyed watching hummingbirds through her window. Above all, Georgia loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them.
Georgia worked as a cashier throughout her career until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty French and husband, Johnny Jones of Shawnee; her daughter, Cheryl Aiken and husband, Jerry Callicoat, of Bentley, and Susan Jennings; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as family members in Illinois.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Hazel Dew; her beloved husband, John Byrd; her daughter, Joann (Ike); her grandsons, Danny Aiken and Little Victor Costello; and her granddaughter, Brandy Kay French.
Georgia will be remembered for her love of family, her passion for sports, and the simple joys she found in reading and watching hummingbirds from her window. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
