Dixie Joyce Longest Boyd was born on November 8, 1952, in Santa Maria, California, where she grew up and spent her early years. She graduated from S.M.H.S which is where she first met Tim Boyd.
On May 25, 1974, Dixie married Shannon Maloney and moved to the San Joaquin Valley in Central California, where they raised their two sons, Matthew and Andrew. Dixie had a special love for children and dedicated much of her life to helping them learn and grow. She created and operated her own preschool, Pixie Playland, in Chowchilla, where she lovingly guided many children through some of their very first steps in life and learning. When her family later moved to Los Banos, she continued teaching preschool at Playdays Preschool. Dixie also served as a program manager for California Child Development and Head Start, continuing a career devoted to children and families.
In 2004, Dixie moved to Oklahoma to be closer to her parents and sisters. She worked for the Community Action Agency of Pottawatomie County and later for the City of McLoud.
On December 22, 2005, Dixie married the love of her life and soul mate, Tim Boyd in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Together, they made their home in Meeker, where they shared more than 20 years of marriage. Dixie and Tim enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and, of course, the companionship of their beloved cats.
On September 30, 2026, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Dixie passed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father with her husband, Tim and her son, Matthew, by her side.
Waiting to welcome her home were her father, Gordon Longest; her mother, Mildred Longest; her beloved son, Andrew Maloney; her nephew, Nathan Sargent; her brother-in-law, Phil Sargent; and many cherished extended family members, friends, and neighbors who went before her.
Dixie leaves behind her beloved husband, Tim Boyd; her brother, Brent Gordon Longest; her sister, Rhonda Sargent; her sister, Dana Bottoms, and brother-in-law, Mike Bottoms; her son, Matthew Maloney, and daughter-in-law, Stacy Maloney; and her grandchildren, Micah Maloney and Scarlett Maloney. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Dixie will be remembered for her loving and caring heart, her wonderful sense of humor, and the way she cared for the people around her. Throughout her life, she gave so much of herself to her family, her friends, and the generations of children whose lives she touched.
She will be forever loved and remembered as a devoted wife, dedicated mother, a proud grandmother, a loving sister, and an amazing friend. Her love, laughter, and memory will live on in the hearts of all those who were blessed to know her.
A viewing will be held Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 1:00-5:00 pm at Riley-Walker funeral home.
A celebration of Dixie's life will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Riley-Walker Funeral Chapel, 201 E. 45th St Shawnee, OK 74804
