Amanda R. Tobin

Amanda Riley Downard Tobin, beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend, went to be with Jesus on August 21st, 2026, at the age of 28. Born on June 23rd, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. Amanda filled our lives with love from the moment she came into the world. Amanda was known for her kindness, compassion, faith in God, and love of family. She was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and had a deep love for our Country.

Amanda was raised on her parents’ farm, where she grew up helping care for cattle and horses. She remained proud throughout her life of her upbringing, her Oklahoma roots, and the values of family, hard work, kindness, and compassion that shaped the person she became.

Amanda proudly and honorably served her country in the United States Air Force as a Security Forces Airman with the 138th Security Forces Squadron, 138th Fighter Wing, Oklahoma Air National Guard, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, attaining the rank of Airman First Class, and was honorably discharged. Her military service was an accomplishment that meant a great deal to her and remained a source of pride throughout her life. She was proud of the uniform she wore, the work she performed, and the opportunity to serve her country and her community.

Amanda continued her education by attending the University of Central Oklahoma and American Military University.

Of the work Amanda did throughout her life, she especially loved being a nanny. Caring for others came naturally to her. She found great joy in helping care for newborns and babies, as well as children on the autism spectrum. Her patience, compassion, and loving nature made caring for children much more than simply a job to Amanda; it was something she genuinely loved doing.

On July 27, 2019, Amanda married her husband, Killian Tobin. Together they recently celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary on July 27, 2026. Amanda and Killian found happiness simply in being together. Whether they were traveling, watching television at home, spending time with their animals, or doing absolutely nothing at all, being beside one another was enough. Amanda loved doing thoughtful things for the people she cared about, including planning family trips, her sister’s wedding, and surprises for Killian and the family’s birthdays. She also loved to scrapbook, going to antique and thrift stores and combing Navarre and Pensacola beaches for seashells. Amanda loved drawing, reading, working on crossword puzzles, makeup and expressing her creativity through it, traveling, and spending time with her family and pets. Her taste in music reflected her personality and could range from worship and gospel music to country and pop. One of her favorite things to say when someone asked a question, always with her phone in hand she would say “Let’s give it a goog!”

Throughout their marriage, Amanda and Killian also shared the tradition of giving one another the customary anniversary gift associated with each year of marriage.

She especially loved traveling to Colorado, New Mexico, Bahamas, and Ireland, creating memories with the people she loved along the way.

Amanda was a proud Oklahoma Sooners football fan and enjoyed giving Killian, an Alabama fan, a hard time whenever Oklahoma got the better of his team. She was also a fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Amanda had a playful and joyful side that those who loved her will always remember. She loved making silly faces, sending funny videos and reels, and finding little ways to make the people around her laugh.

She took pride in many things throughout her life: her Air Force service, her husband and family, her home, her makeup skills, her firearms and marksmanship, and the animals she loved. One of the roles she cherished most was being an aunt to her niece, Charli.

Animals held an especially important place in Amanda’s heart. She and Killian shared their home and lives with several beloved pets who were truly members of their family: Peanut, their first rescued dog, an Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees mix; Ash, Amanda’s long haired black cat; Freyja, her calico cat; and Leo, their newest rescue dog, an Airedale terrier and Great Pyrenees mix.

More than anything, Amanda will be remembered for the way she loved. She loved deeply, gave generously, and cared genuinely about the people and animals around her. Her kindness, compassion, humor, and giving heart left an impression that will remain with everyone fortunate enough to have known her. Those closest to Amanda describe her as loving, caring, kind, compassionate, giving, sweet, and devoted to her family. She had an extraordinary capacity for loving others and found some of her greatest happiness in helping the people around her.

Amanda will forever be cherished by her husband Killian Tobin, parents, Terry and Heavenly Downard, sister and brother-in-law, Jessica and Zane Winters, niece, Charli Winters, grandparents, Robert and Karen Hayes, and Wynona Gregory Amsey, who will carry her spirit forward with love and pride. She is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Merrie Lee Fowler, and grandpa, Wayne Gregory.

Our family was not expecting the loss of Amanda or for her life to be cut so short so soon. We are devastated by this loss and will feel the absence of Amanda forever. She was the sweetest, kindest, and most loving soul and joyful to be around. She gave generously and will be forever missed.

Amanda will be cremated at Riley-Walker Funeral Service & Crematory in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Killian and her parents are organizing a public memorial [Date and time pending] at Life.Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and asks that anyone with fond memories to feel free to attend and share.
